The Pasadena Police Department released security camera footage on Wednesday in an effort to identify a man who kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint on Saturday night, April 13. The attack began around 8:40 p.m. outside a business on Sierra Madre Villa Avenue, just north of Foothill Boulevard.
According to the police, the 30-year-old victim was sitting in her parked vehicle when the suspect entered her car and threatened her with a knife. He then forced the woman to drive to another location, where he sexually assaulted her.
The victim managed to fend off her attacker and call 911, prompting the suspect to flee.
Lt. Tim Bundy of the Pasadena Police Department said that the Special Victims Unit has launched an investigation into the incident, but the suspect remains at large.
The man is described as a Black male, approximately 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet tall, and heavy set. He was wearing a black face covering, a gray hooded rain jacket, light blue jeans, and black shoes at the time of the attack.
The suspect, who was armed with a folding knife, reportedly has a distinctive raspy voice and is possibly a transient.
Earlier the police department also released a still image of the suspect from the security footage in the hope that members of the public may recognize him or have information that could aid the investigation.
