The Pasadena Police Department will hold its annual Walk for Life event Sept. 18 at the Rose Bowl, marking Suicide Prevention Month with community outreach and awareness activities.

The free event begins at 5 p.m. in Lot H at the Rose Bowl Stadium. A 5K walk and run around the Rose Bowl Loop starts at 5:45 p.m.

A statement from the Pasadena Police Department said three organizations are collaborating on the event. The department’s H.O.P.E. Team, the PPD Wellness Unit and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health are working together.

H.O.P.E. stands for Homeless Outreach Psychiatric Evaluation.

More than 25 vendors will participate in a resource fair before the walk begins. Local dignitaries are scheduled to speak.

The event targets people affected by suicide and their supporters. Organizers say the gathering aims to show that suicide is preventable and that no one faces the issue alone.

Walk for Life has become an annual tradition that continues to grow each year.
