Pasadena Unified School District’s McKinley School is hosting a Parent Summit all Pasadena-area parents and families on Saturday, April 8, 2017, to inform and engage parents with information relevant to their children’s preK-12th grade education.
Parents and families, teachers and staff, and community members are invited to register for the free event which features workshops, a resource lounge, and entertainment.
“The Parent Summit is an opportunity for parents and families to come together to prepare children for the future, whether for the next academic year or for college and careers,” said McKinley School Principal Dr. Charles Heaton.
Workshop topics include adolescent development, navigating high school, strategies for college planning, and parenting styles. In the Writers Workshop session, parents will get insight into the way that PUSD elementary school students are learning to hone their writing skills with methods used by professional writers.
The Parent Summit kicks off with a keynote address by educator Dr. George McKenna III and is followed by three 45-minute workshop sessions, lunch, light entertainment, and a resource fair. Child care for children in grades K-12 and Spanish translation is available. A complimentary lunch is hosted by Urban Plates for those registered in advance.
The event is free and open to all Pasadena-area parents and families. Visit https://www.pusd.us/Domain/25 for more information.
