Pasadena voters overwhelmingly approved six ballot measures in Tuesday’s municipal election, including a $195 million bond to retrofit and renovate the city’s 97-year-old Central Library.

Measure PL, the library bond measure, received 71.64% approval, surpassing the required threshold. The measure will levy $28.90 per $100,000 of assessed property value to fund earthquake retrofitting, safety upgrades and technology modernization at the historic facility.

Voters showed strong support for three charter amendments affecting city governance. Measure PC, establishing term limits for mayor and council members, passed with 81.50% approval. The measure limits officials to three consecutive terms, allowing two additional terms after a four-year break.

Measures PA and PB, reforming special election procedures and council organization, each garnered more than 85% support. PA requires special elections for certain council vacancies, while PB modifies the timing of organizational meetings and vice mayor selection.

Measure PF, ensuring continued fire and police representation on the city’s retirement board, passed with 85.20% approval.

A rent control measure, PR, which aligns senior and disabled definitions with state law and modifies eviction rules, received 62.92% of votes.

Results reflect returns reported by the Los Angeles County Registrar as of 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Election results are available to view and download at LAVOTE.GOV.

After Election Day, many outstanding ballots will still be processed and counted in the Official Election Canvass.

During the Official Election Canvass, all Vote by Mail, Conditional, and Provisional ballots received on Election Day are processed and verified. Once verified, they will be counted.

The first post-Election Day ballot count update is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6. The full schedule of ballot counting updates is available on the Canvass Update Schedule.
