[UPDATED] A man was wounded Tuesday, but expected to survive, following the fifth shooting in four days in the same Pasadena neighborhood, authorities said.

The gunfire was reported shortly before 10:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of North Navarro Avenue, near Washington Boulevard, Pasadena police Lt. William Grisafe said.

Responding officers initially found evidence of a shooting at the scene, but no suspects or victims, according to the lieutenant.

But a local hospital notified police a short time later that a gunshot victim had arrived in the emergency department, police said.

The victim, described as a man in his 40s, was treated for injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, he said.

The wounded man was uncooperative with investigators and refused to provide information about what had happened, Grisafe added.

No further details were available as the investigation remained in its early stages.

Tuesday’s shooting was the fifth reported in the same five-block area since Saturday. Three shootings took place on Sunday night, preceded by another shooting on Saturday evening.

A gunman on foot opened fire on a passing vehicle at about 6:50 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of Navarro Avenue, according to Pasadena police Lt. John Mercado. No victims were found.

A man was found wounded in both legs following a 9:15 p.m. shooting at Navarro Avenue and Howard Street, Mercado said. The victim refused to cooperate with police and further details were not available.

While still investigating that attack, officers heard more gunfire coming from the area of North Fair Oaks Avenue and Tremont Street, Mercado said.

It was determined that two cars had been struck by bullets while passing through the intersection, but neither driver was injured, police said.

Another shooting unfolded just before 7 p.m. Saturday at Belmont Avenue and Wyoming Street, Pasadena police Lt. Marcia Taglioretti said. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, along with two cars speeding out of the area.

Bullet casings were found at the scene, but no injuries were reported.

Detectives were looking into any potential connections between the shootings, officials said.
