Long-time Altadena resident and Star-News “Senior Moments” columnist Patricia Bunin will be the speaker at the Monday Jan. 26 quarterly program of the Altadena Historical Society.

She will share humorous and poignant moments from her life and career, and talk about what makes a successful interview, with examples from her years as a journalist.

The program will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Altadena Community Center, 730 E. Altadena Drive, and is free and open to the public.

An Altadena resident for 40 years, Bunin worked as director of public relations at Altadena’s historic Scripps retirement home, where she also taught poetry classes.

Her “Senior Moments” column appears weekly in the Star-News and eight other papers of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group. Her work has been honored by the Los Angeles Press Club and she is a recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts grant for poetry.

She is the author of several books of poetry and her stories have been published as part of the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series and in numerous essay collections.

A breast cancer survivor, excerpts from her journal were published in the Star-News and made into a brochure for patients at the USC/Norris Cancer Center. She is the creator of breastbuddy.net, a support website for women.
