Fair Oaks Avenue between Palmetto Drive and Congress Street will be fully closed overnight from Monday, July 21 at 9:00 p.m. to Tuesday, July 22 at 6:00 a.m. for street restriping and intersection upgrades related to the new Keck Medicine of USC outpatient building at 590 South Fair Oaks Avenue, according to a public notice issued by the Pasadena Department of Public Works.
The scheduled closure will allow crews to restripe sections of Fair Oaks Avenue and California Boulevard and install new crosswalks.
These final streetwork activities are part of the broader improvements supporting the USC Keck Medical building project. Commuters are advised to plan ahead and follow posted detours.
Southbound traffic will be rerouted to Raymond Avenue via Bellevue Drive, and northbound traffic will be detoured to Pasadena Avenue via Bellefontaine Street. Emergency access to Huntington Hospital and entry to local businesses will remain available. Advance warning signs and electronic message boards will be deployed to notify the public.
The street improvements coincide with the nearing completion of the Keck Medicine of USC medical office building, a four-story, approximately 100,000-square-foot outpatient facility developed by Keck Medicine of USC. Construction reached its “topping out” milestone in July, and the project remains on track for its expected opening in fall.
Designed with both sustainability and innovation in mind, the building targets LEED Platinum certification and utilizes advanced structural systems focused on long-term resilience. Once open, it will serve as Keck Medicine’s largest and most advanced outpatient site to date.
