Rental Housing Board Takes Steps to Make Its Resolutions Easier to Find and Understand

The Pasadena Rental Housing Board (PRHB) unanimously adopted a resolution recommending chaptering of resolutions implementing the Measure H Charter Amendment.

The move was made to make regulations more readily accessible for members of the public and for PRHB staff.

“Everytime we pass a resolution, this goes into our records and we have a numbering system for them but they are kind of not in any particular order. They are in chronological order at the moment as we passed them,” said Chair Ryan Bell.

“It’s recommended to us by our legal counsel that we come up with a chaptering system,”

Bell said the chaptering will keep resolutions and regulations that are about the same topic together in one chapter so people can easily find what they are looking for.

PRHB has adopted six resolutions establishing rules and regulations for the implementation of charter amendment since its meeting started early this year.

Included among the resolutions is the resolution establishing rules of conduct for board meetings, resolution requiring landlords to pay interest annually on security deposits, and a resolution approving proposed just cause eviction policies.

The Board anticipates that more resolutions will be passed next year.

The board is anticipated to adopt regulations implementing the petition requirements and hearing procedures for Individual Rent Adjustments and establishing requirements for registration of Covered Rental Units by Landlords.
