Pasadena’s new Rental Stabilization Department is planning to launch a website this February to provide tenants and landlords easy access to information.

At Wednesday’s meeting of the Pasadena Rental Housing Board, the Department’s Interim Executive Director Philip Leclair said the “Version 1.0” website will contain all the materials that are available in the board website to date but the information will be presented in a more organized way.

The website, he said, will be “very friendly to the community.”

It will be designed with sections for tenants and landlords, providing easy access to essential resources like forms, policies, FAQs, and educational materials.

Ten key topics covering frequent concerns will be available on the website including Rent Control Overview, Security Deposits, Community Resources, Rent Stabilization, Department Overview, Owner Move-in Eviction Process, Habitability & Repairs, Exemptions Retaliation and Harassment, Just Cause Eviction Overview and Moving In / Moving Out Checklists.

All the information provided in the website will be presented in multiple languages. The website will also contain graphics and videos.

Impactful tips on relevant issues will be shared monthly through the website to keep the community informed and to drive viewers to the website.

The department will also hold workshops to inform the community about upcoming events, important updates, and valuable resources related to the Charter Amendment.

A workshop for landlords is set for March 2024. The tenant workshop will resume in the summer of 2024.

An educational workshop for the rent registry stakeholders to solicit feedback on the design and configuration of the system is also planned for this year.

According to Leclair, the Department is also exploring releasing monthly newsletters and placing informative messages in Pasadena transit and utility bills to reach individuals who may not actively seek out information.
