Robots Enlisted to Clean Pasadena Office Complex With UV Light

A robot capable of disinfecting both surfaces and air with ultraviolet light is now roaming the halls of the Pasarroyo office complex in Pasadena after the company that owns the facility formed a new partnership with a robotics manufacturer, the companies announced Monday.

Coretrust Capital Partners, which owns  FourFortyFour in downtown Los Angeles and 2 Liberty Place in Philadelphia, also announced that in addition to using robots made by UBTECH, the Shenzhen, China-based company has also taken up residence at Pasarroyo for its North American research and development headquarters, according to a joint statement issued by Coretrust and UBTECH.

“UBTECH located its North American R&D headquarters at our Pasadena property and, as soon as we became aware of the UV-C robots, we recognized they would be incredible additions to our health and wellness technology,”  Coretrust Managing Principal and co-founder Thomas S. Ricci said. “As our tenant customers return to the workplace, many starting this month, health and wellness issues are paramount to staff confidence. The robots are visible symbols of the anti-COVID technology that stands behind the environmental health of our buildings.”

UBTECH’s “ADIBOT UV-C” robots use a ultraviolet technology, “that disinfects air and targeted surfaces to deactivate the DNA and RNA of harmful pathogens,” the statement said, “By using UV-C, ADIBOT also reduces interaction with harmful chemicals, one-time use plastics and chemical disposal into the environment. The system effectively disinfects 99.9 percent of targeted areas with minimal downtime.”

Senior Vice President and General Manager of UBTECH North America John Rhee said ADIBOT-UVS is only one of many steps Coretrust has taken to secure its properties.
