A Starbucks location near Pasadena City College has submitted an application for modifications to its building and hours of operation in order to offer drive-through window service.
The proposal will be discussed at a public hearing to be held by the city’s Hearing Officer on Wednesday, Oct. 4, starting at 6 p.m. The hearing will take place at the Permit Center Hearing Room in the Hale Building, at 175 North Garfield Ave.
The Starbucks branch, located at 170 N. Hill Ave., had initially obtained Conditional Use Permit #3890 back in 2002, allowing it to operate as a drive-through restaurant with hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The current application seeks a change in the permit to accommodate a drive-through operation, which also involves changes to the existing building and site. The request also included changing the hours of operation, extending them from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily.
The property is situated within the Commercial General (CG) zoning district.
The Department of Planning and Community Development said the proposed modifications are “a negligible expansion to an existing commercial structure” and is recommending approval of the application.
Interested parties may provide comments about the application during the public hearing.
