The Beat to Go On…and On with Popular Drum Corps at the Rose Bowl Saturday

The Drum Corps will boom its way into the Rose Bowl June 29 with a very special brand of thunder.

Drum Corps is a national drum and bugle competition. A big one. How big? The rolling competition spotlights 1,700 youth from 15 drum and bugle corps across North America.

Saturday’s rhythmic extravaganza is part of Drum Corps International’s (DCI) North American summer tour featuring elite marching bands performing intricate blends of music and movement.

Drum Corps represents the major leagues, if you will, of marching music. For nearly half a century, DCI has been the leading producer of events for the world’s elite marching ensembles for student musicians and performers.

Thirteen original founding member organizations formed the DCI collective in 1971 to organize and unify leadership for exactly the kind of event they’re producing at the Rose Bowl. Directors of competing groups united their ensembles by setting up chances for them to perform together.

Today, DCI supports numerous programs around the globe while sanctioning participating recognized drum corps, SoundSport performance ensembles and DrumLine Battle teams performing in more than 100 competitive events that make up the annual Drum Corps International Tour.

Reachable on line at  www.DCI.org, through corporate sponsorships, annual broadcast initiatives, and outreach to high school music programs, DCI delivers the message of “excellence in performance and in life” to more than 7.2 million young people, ages 13 to 22 involved in the performing arts across the United States.

Saturday’s Drum Corps at the Rose Bowl is from 4:45 p.m. through 10 p.m. Tickets are $36 and $46 with advanced purchase reservation, $41 and $51 on the day of the event, and $145 for club seats.

Cost of parking for Drum Corps at the Rose Bowl is $10 per vehicle.
