The project, which began on August 7 and is scheduled to last until mid-October, aims to calm traffic speeds and improve safety and mobility on North Hill Avenue at the intersections of Topeka Street and Elizabeth Street.
The first phase of the project involves the construction of a traffic circle at the intersection of North Hill Avenue and Topeka Street to reduce speeding along the North Hill Avenue corridor. That work closed Hill Ave. in both directions last week.
The project also includes pedestrian improvements, such as crosswalk curb extensions to reduce pedestrian crossing times, landscape beautification, and street lighting.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes including New York Dr., Washington Blvd., and Allen Ave. Access will be allowed for local residents during working hours and all vehicular traffic outside of working hours.
