Two Arrested, One at Large After Pasadena Minibike Pursuit, Police Say

Pasadena police arrested two men and continue to search for a third suspect following a pursuit involving gas-powered minibikes late Monday night, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Anthony Russo.

Russo said officers observed three minibikes committing vehicle code violations at 10:57 p.m. near Lincoln Avenue and Anderson Place. When officers attempted a traffic stop, all three riders failed to yield, prompting a pursuit.

During the chase, one suspect lost control of his minibike and crashed in the roadway before fleeing on foot into a yard near Prospect Boulevard and Armada Drive, Russo said.

Officers located him hiding nearby and took him into custody without incident. The suspect, identified as Bernard Rowe, 32, of Los Angeles, complained of pain from the crash and was transported to a hospital before being cleared for booking, according to Russo.

Russo said a second suspect, identified as Theo Usher, 35, of Los Angeles, was later located riding his minibike near Arroyo Boulevard and Rosemont Avenue.

Officers re-engaged the pursuit, which ended near Fair Oaks Avenue and Altadena Drive, where Usher was taken into custody.

The third suspect, described by Russo as an unknown African American man wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and white shoes, remains outstanding after officers lost sight of him near Tremont Street and Fair Oaks Avenue.

Russo reported the initial pursuit lasted two minutes and covered 1.2 miles, while the subsequent pursuit spanned 3.4 miles over seven minutes. He said suspects reached speeds of approximately 35 miles per hour.

According to Russo, the suspects were believed to be under the influence of alcohol and were arrested on suspicion of felony evading and driving under the influence. No officers were injured during the incident.
