Two brothers were assaulted, one suffering a stab wound, following a graduation ceremony near a local school Thursday afternoon, police said.
The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. at Del Mar Boulevard and Halstead Street when nine juveniles approached the victims in a parking lot, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau.
After a brief confrontation, the group without provocation began assaulting the victims, Campeau said. During the attack, one of the assailants stabbed the 19-year-old victim in his lower left back.
The younger brother, 16, sustained head injuries during the assault. The older brother was transported to a local hospital, Campeau said.
The suspects fled from the scene on foot, and no weapons were recovered, according to Campeau. No surveillance cameras were present at the time of the incident.
The case has been transferred to detectives who are working to identify the suspects, said Campeau.
