According to the District 7 newsletter, there are currently there vacant commission seats in District 7 including seats on the Commission on the Status of Women, the Senior Commission and the South Lake Parking Place Commission.
The Commission on the Status of Women advises the City Council on the special needs and concerns of women of all ages, races, religions, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and economic and social circumstances.
The purpose of the Senior Commission is to advise the city Council on the needs, concerns, and quality of life of all seniors.
The South Lake Parking Place Commission operates, manages and controls the parking places within the district, and makes and enforces all necessary regulations for the maintenance and operation of the district. The seats are designated for South Lake business representatives or owner.
“The commissions are really a fantastic way for our residents to start understanding how the governance of our city works,” Wilson told Pasadena Now. “In District 7 we work hard both to fill openings quickly as well as rotate people through on a timely basis to create opportunities for others to get involved. Obviously some commissions play more pivotal roles in the operation of the city than others.”
