Villa Esperanza Guild held their 22nd annual ‘A Day at the Races’ benefiting Villa Esperanza Services on Saturday, February 29th . This year’s event raised over $62,000 in support of Villa’s Hjelte-Phillips Speech and Language Center and Villa’s Residential and Independent Living programs, two of Villa’s nine programs that assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Over 130 guests enjoyed the afternoon which included lunch and prize drawings along with a fantastic day of racing.
The benefit chair for this year was Joan Feser, Co-President of the Guild. Committee members included Judi Moore, Co-President of Guild, Connie Ching, Diana Gamble and Nancy Pierson. The Villa Esperanza Guild was formed in 1968 to increase awareness of the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Villa Esperanza Services, established in 1961, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the care and education of children, adults and seniors with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities. Villa offers nine programs including a school for children up to the age of 22 years; a Speech and Language Center and Occupational Therapy Clinic providing children, adults and seniors with comprehensive therapies; employment services; day programs for adults; and adult residences in Pasadena.
