Danielle Raines, the 58-year-old wife of KABC-TV weatherman Dallas Raines, has pleaded no contest to assaulting her 25-year-old daughter on August 31, as the daughter drove her home a La Cañada country club, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney.
Raines lives with her husband in Pasadena. She and her defense attorney could not be reached for comment.
On September 21, Raines had entered a not guilty plea to one felony count of assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Raines changed the plea to no contest on Friday, November 4. She was immediately sentenced to three years formal probation and ordered to complete a one-year residential drug rehab program.
Raines has also been ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings five times a week and to stay away from her daughter and the family home.
Prosecutors said Raines was having a meal and drinking with her daughter when she became belligerent and struck and pushed the victim as she prepared to drive her mother home. When they were on the road, Raines again attacked her daughter, causing the victim to pull over.
On the side of the road, Raines allegedly continued to strike the victim and even attempted to strangle her before the daughter managed to escape, prosecutors added.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Crescenta Valley Station investigated the case, the District Attorney’s Office said.
