Caltrans announced serious disruptions through Friday, Jan. 18 to normal operations along the I-210 Foothill Freeway in the Pasadena area, which will be undergoing closures for pavement rehabilitation. It is worth noting during these rainy days that the closures will only occur, weather permitting.
Those who use these routes and ramps late at night or through the early morning hours will be most affected by the work, which is part of a $148 million pavement rehabilitation project for a 10-mile stretch through the La Crescenta-Montrose area.
Most notable will be the closure of the East-to-East I-210 connector at State Route 134, which will impact those who travel that particular stretch of road at night. The long-term closure will take place during the week from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Wednesday through Thursday, and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday.

The I-210 westbound-to-southbound I-710 connect may be closed from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for tunnel light testing – a daytime interruption.
Nightime closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. can be anticipated on four lanes from Lowell Avenue to Mountain Street. Three lanes on the State Route-134/I-710 connector to Lake Avenue will also be shut down.
On ramps at Lowell Avenue, La Crescenta Avenue, Foothill Blvd., and Marengo Avenue will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., as well as the off-ramps at Gould Avenue and Colorado Blvd.
Those utilizing either on and off ramps at Pennsylvania Ave., Berkshire Place, Ocean View Blvd, Angeles Crest Highway, Mountain Street, Fair Oaks Avenue, Arroyo Boulevard/Windsor Avenue and Lincoln Avenue/Howard Street during 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. window should find alternative routes.
Connectors at southbound Glendale Freeway and westbound Ventura Freeway will be inaccessible.
Regarding the westbound I-210, the 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. traveler will also be inconvenienced with the closure of up to four lanes between Walnut Street and Lowell Avenue along with three lanes from Lake Avenue to the State Route 134/I-710 connector.
The following ramps will be closed as well: Gould Ave. and Walnut Street on-ramps; Lowell Avenue, La Crescenta Avenue, Foothill Blvd. and Marengo Ave. off ramps; the off- and on-ramps at Fair Oaks Avenue, Mountain Street, Lincoln Ave./Howard Street, Arroyo Blvd./Windsor Avenue, Berkshire Pl., Angeles Crest Highway, Ocean View Blvd., and Pennsylvania Ave.
The southbound Glendale Freeway and southbound I-710 will be closed during the same time-frame.
The northbound Glendale Freeway will see the Verdugo off-ramp closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday and the Foothill Blvd. off-ramp will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The Glendale Freeway connector to the eastbound I-210 will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, while the westbound connector to the I-210 will be closed to traffic from 11 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday. Two lanes of the Glendale Freeway connector to westbound I-210 will be out of operation.
Glendale Freeway on-ramps at Verdugo and Foothill Blvd. will be shut down from 7 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday.
There will also be closures on State Route 134 including; three lanes from San Rafael to the I-210 freeway from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; the Orange Grove Blvd on- and off-ramp from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; the SR-134 connector to westbound I-210 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.; and the southbound connector to the I-710 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The northbound I-710 will have the on-ramp at Del Mar Blvd., closed from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. The California Blvd. on-ramp will be inaccessible from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. and the westbound 134 and eastbound I-210 connects will be shut down from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Finally, the Del Mar Blvd., off-ramp of the southbound I-710 will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
