Pasadena has repaired or replaced damaged guardrails at 11 locations throughout the city under its Annual Guardrail Improvement Program.
The Department of Public Works and a contractor undertook the repairs and reportedly finished them on time and within budget.
The City Council approved a contract with Danny C. Hubbs Construction for the project on May 9, for $364,315. Construction started in August.
Three of the existing guardrails were deemed substandard and had to be replaced; the other eight were repaired to meet current Caltrans guardrail standard plans.
The City has over 70 guardrail locations along its street network, according to a survey conducted by the Public Works Department in 2019.
A report by Public Works Director Tony Olmos showed work was completed early in October. The locations of the repaired or replaced guardrails are as follows:
- 1358 Inverness Drive, 300 feet south of Edgehill PIace
- 1865 Braemar Road, 400 feet south of Normandy Road
- 921 Glen Oaks Blvd., 1,320 feet south of Linda Glen Drive
- 2016 Linda Vista Ave., south of the Foothill Freeway overpass
- 1260 South Arroyo Blvd. at Columbia Street

- 1480 Poppy Peak Drive, 600 feet south of La Lorna Road
- Oak Grove Drive, 1,400 feet west of North Windsor Ave.

A large portion of the project was funded by a $289,000 grant secured by the City through the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).
