The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is set to conduct a virtual meeting Thursday to detail its plans to replace the railing on the State Route134 Arroyo Seco Bridge in West Pasadena.

Thursday’s meeting on Webex will provide residents near the Arroyo Seco Bridge an opportunity to learn specific details about the project and to ask questions of Caltrans officials.

Members of the project team are to be present during the virtual meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m., to answer questions.

Caltrans said the project will upgrade the railing to current state and federal standards and provide aesthetic improvements.

For work to proceed safely and with minimal traffic impacts, Caltrans said some operations may take place at night. Residents and businesses located near the work zone may experience noise and bright lights associated with construction activities.

In addition, work will involve periodic closures of the eastbound on-ramp from North San Rafael Ave. and the westbound on-ramp from West Colorado Blvd.

Caltrans said up to four lanes in either direction of SR 134 will also close intermittently overnight so that crews may safely complete work. The park space below the bridge will remain open throughout the course of the project.

Construction is expected to be completed by early 2024, Caltrans said.

To access the virtual meeting on Thursday via Webex, visit https://bit.ly/SR134project. Attendees may join the event up to 10 minutes prior to the meeting by filling in their name, number and email address.

A call-in number is also available for attendees who are unable to access the webinar online. To access the meeting via phone, dial (408) 418-9388 and enter access code 2491 952 8030 when prompted.

Anyone who’s interested but unable to attend the meeting may reach out to Caltrans at (213) 200-8694. A Caltrans representative or member of the project team will respond to any questions or concerns.
