An upcoming conference in Pasadena seeks to bridge the gap between artificial intelligence and religious faith, exploring the ethical and spiritual implications of rapidly advancing AI technology.

The Infinity Summit 2024, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Fuller Theological Seminary will bring together experts from both tech and theological fields.

The one-day event, titled “Navigating Faith and Humanity in the Artificial Intelligence World,” is organized by Lake Avenue Church and aims to foster dialogue on the impact of AI on society and the role of religious institutions. Organizers hope to engage a diverse audience, including scholars, professionals, and students, particularly those in STEM fields.

“AI touches not only technological questions, but spiritual, ethical and philosophical questions, as it continues to advance,” Lake Avenue Church said in the event description. The summit will explore these issues, examining the current state of AI development and its potential future impacts.

Attendees will confront key concepts at the intersection of technology and faith, addressing concerns about the responsible stewardship of AI capabilities. While AI promises to improve lives, the event acknowledges potential threats and disruptions. The organizers argue that these questions extend beyond tech and government leaders to include churches and theologians.

The Infinity Summit, open to all, will be held in the Travis Auditorium at Fuller Seminary, located at North Oakland Ave., with registration priced at $60. This fee covers admission, lunch, and refreshments.

Organizers have emphasized limited seating, encouraging early registration before the Oct. 3 deadline at https://lakeave.org/event/328

Financial assistance may be available for those unable to afford the registration fee. For more information, email Denney Premkumar at denneyp@lakeave.org.
