An apparent incident of road rage in Pasadena on Friday led to the seizure of an unserialized “ghost gun” and the arrests of two men, police said.
The events unfolded about 12:15 p.m. in the area of Hill Avenue and Walnut Street, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said.
A motorcyclist reported the driver of a red Jeep had just pointed what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun at him.
Responding officers found the Jeep at a gas station at Hill and Walnut avenues, the lieutenant said. It contained a driver and two passengers.
Police found a realistic-looking BB gun in the shape of a sawed-off shotgun, he said.
Officers also found a loaded, unserialized handgun, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun,” in the vehicle’s center console, Burgess said.
The driver, identified as Deondre Lamarr Cox, 29, of Los Angeles, was booked on suspicion of brandishing a replica firearm, according to police and Los Angeles County booking records. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant related to a pre-existing assault with deadly weapon case.
One of the passengers, 30-year-old Clayton Eugene Morgan of Lancaster, was arrested on suspicion of weapon-related violations in connection with the handgun, authorities said. The other passenger was not arrested.
Cox and Morgan were both released from custody with citations pending legal proceedings, records show.
