Area Chambers Partner to Host Human Resources Webinar for Small Business Owners

Employment law expert to discuss hiring practices, workplace regulations during free online session

The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and six partner chambers will host a free July Biz Boost webinar Tuesday addressing human resources basics for small business owners.

The online session, scheduled for 2 p.m. July 8, will feature Thomas Lenz, a partner with the law firm Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud and Romo. Lenz will present “HR Basics for Small Business-Do’s, Don’ts’ Red Flags and More: The Ins and Outs of Having Employees: Dos, Don’ts, Land Mines and Red Flags.”

Lenz is a recognized authority on labor and employment law and National Labor Relations Board issues. Since beginning his career at the National Labor Relations Board, he has worked with clients across California and other states for more than 30 years with the firm.

The attorney serves as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. He chairs the California Lawyers Association’s Civics Education and Outreach Committee and is a former chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section.

In 2023, Lenz was named a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He has been honored as one of the top 100 labor attorneys in the United States by Labor Relations Institute, Inc.

The webinar is part of the Biz Boost series organized by the Valley Area Chamber Executives. The collaboration includes chambers from Altadena, El Monte/South El Monte, San Dimas, Pasadena, Rosemead and the Regional Chamber of the San Gabriel Valley.

The Valley Area Chamber Executives is an informal group of chamber staff leadership from throughout the San Gabriel Valley. The group meets monthly to discuss mutual concerns and collaborate on regional events and member enhancement ideas.

The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and Civic Association, founded in 1888 as the Board of Trade, serves more than 1,250 members. The organization focuses on enhancing Pasadena’s economy, business climate and quality of life.
