ArtCenter College of Design announced today that it has been granted software from Siemens Digital Industries Software, a leading global provider of engineering, manufacturing and electronics software. The software gives students access to the same technology that companies around the world depend on to develop innovative products in a wide variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, machinery, shipbuilding, high tech electronics and many more. Graduates with training, experience and working knowledge of this type of software are highly recruited candidates for advanced technology jobs.

The software for ArtCenter includes Siemens’ Designcenter suite of product engineering software. Trusted across engineering and product development teams, Designcenter is also used by industrial designers in industries that demand seamless integration from concept to production. Many ArtCenter faculty bring deep industry experience using Designcenter and are uniquely equipped to teach the software at a high level.

Siemens is providing licenses for ArtCenter faculty and students. ArtCenter plans to introduce Siemens’ Designcenter software into its design curriculum later this year through an advanced CAD course for upper-level students nearing the start of their careers in industry. The course will offer hands-on experience with the software, where students will develop design solutions through mini projects over the term.

“ArtCenter would like to thank Siemens Digital Industries Software for this advanced engineering software,” said Damien Vizcarra, Associate Chair of Product Design at ArtCenter. “Using the same technology in the classroom that is used in industry ensures our students gain valuable real-world experience throughout their studies, positioning them for success post-graduation.” “Designcenter features an advanced direct modeling and surfacing tool that is especially beneficial for developing designs and fine-tuning details,” noted Joseph Choi, ArtCenter Adjunct Associate Professor, Product Design. “This tool will give students insight into a more holistic approach to the professional design process.”

Siemens’ Designcenter software is a powerful design tool and a strategic advantage in today’s competitive market. As a global design education institution, ArtCenter is always working to stay at the leading edge of tools that give the college’s students a competitive advantage. By training with the same software used by top companies, ArtCenter students will gain an edge and be industry-ready when they start their careers.

“Introducing Siemens’ Designcenter into ArtCenter College of Design’s curriculum creates new opportunities for students to connect industrial design with advanced engineering practices,” said Danny Sicking, Senior Director of Software Engineering Designcenter NX™ Platform, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “By equipping students with access to an industry leading multi-domain engineering toolset like Designcenter, we’re enabling them to engage in the same product development workflows that are used by the world’s top engineering and manufacturing companies. This hands-on exposure ensures graduates are prepared not just to enter the workforce – but to drive innovation within it.” Designcenter stands apart by unifying best-in-class tools like Designcenter NX™ and Designcenter Solid Edge™ on one unified platform, enhanced with AI, cloud collaboration, and powerful digital twin capabilities.

“At Siemens, we’re proud to support ArtCenter College of Design as they equip the next generation of designers with the same advanced tools used by leading companies around the world. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to innovation, creativity, and preparing students to thrive in a digitally driven design landscape,” says Melanie Spare, Academic Enablement Director, Americas, Siemens Digital Industries Software.

With this announcement, Andy Deo, Vice President of Marketing for Saratech, partner for this Siemens Digital Industries Software comments… “Empowering the next generation of builders, makers, and innovators has always been a key directive at Saratech. Supporting the team at ArtCenter College of Design through our Siemens Digital Industries Software partnership and engineering expertise allows us to contribute to the growth and success of our collective future.”
