Caltech announced it will hold its 2024 ‘Summer Preview: Women in STEM’ event from Aug. 8 to 9, with an optional athletic camp on Aug. 7. The free program targets rising high school juniors and seniors who identify as women or non-binary.

The two-day event offers participants a look at the depth and breadth of opportunities for women and non-binary students at Caltech. Activities include panels, mock lectures, and information sessions on various aspects of campus life and career prospects in STEM fields.

Katie Bouman, an Associate Professor at Caltech known for her work on the Event Horizon Telescope project, is this year’s keynote speaker. Bouman’s research focuses on computational imaging, combining various disciplines to advance measurement techniques.

“We hope students leave with an increased understanding of whether Caltech is a place they can see themselves learning and growing through their college years,” stated event organizers.

The event will showcase exciting frontiers that Caltech women are exploring in STEM fields. Attendees will also receive information about Caltech’s application and financial aid processes, and connect with admissions counselors who will review applications in the fall.

The application deadline is Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Interested students can contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 626-395-6341, email ugadmissions@caltech.edu, or visit the event website at:
