
Pasadena residents should expect modified city operations during the Independence Day holiday, with City Hall and many administrative offices closing Friday, July 3, according to a City of Pasadena news release. Essential emergency services will remain available, while some public services, transit routes and community facilities will operate on adjusted schedules.
The Pasadena Police and Fire departments will continue providing patrol, jail, fire and paramedic services throughout the holiday. Administrative offices for both departments will be closed. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to Pasadena Police at (626) 744-4241 or call 911 for emergencies.
Pasadena Water and Power will continue responding to utility emergencies during the holiday. Customers experiencing electrical emergencies should call (626) 744-4673, while water-related emergencies can be reported to (626) 744-4138. Although the utility’s customer call center will be closed, customers can manage accounts and pay bills online at PWPweb.com or by calling (626) 744-4005.
Residential trash, recycling and yard waste collection will continue on its regular Friday schedule, according to the city. However, bulky item pickup service will not be available.
The City’s Service Center will be closed July 3, but residents can continue submitting service requests through the city’s website, the City Service Center mobile app or by calling (626) 744-7311. The city said requests, voicemail messages and emails will continue to be monitored during the closure. The City Service Center will return to normal business hours Monday, July 6, opening at 8 a.m.
The City’s Municipal Services Payment Center and Parking Office at City Hall will be closed. Parking meters throughout Pasadena will be free on Friday, July 3, except where temporary “No Parking” restrictions are posted. Time limits also will not be enforced.
However, parking violations involving red curbs, overnight parking, fire hydrants and designated no-parking zones will continue to be enforced. The city also reminded motorists to observe parking restrictions near the Rose Bowl Stadium and Arroyo Seco area. All regular enforcement resumes Saturday, July 4.
Pasadena Transit Route 33 will operate on a Sunday schedule Saturday, July 4. All other Pasadena Transit routes and Dial-A-Ride service will not operate on Independence Day.
Pasadena Public Library branches will be closed Friday and Saturday, July 3-4. Community centers operated by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department also will be closed July 4. City parks will remain open, although no site reservations will be accepted for the holiday.
The Honorable John J. Kennedy Pool will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. on July 4, while the splash pad at La Pintoresca Park will operate from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The city’s Permit Center also will close July 3. Online services, including subtrade permits and plan submittals for new construction, tenant improvements, accessory dwelling units and additions, will remain available through CityOfPasadena.net/
City officials also reminded residents that all fireworks remain illegal in Pasadena. Reports of illegal fireworks may be made by calling Pasadena Police at (626) 744-4241 or through the City Service Center mobile app, available on Google Play and the App Store.
