Officers responded to the call at 3:43 a.m. and found that copper wiring had been stolen from the streetlights for approximately a three-block stretch of Los Robles Avenue, according to Pasadena Police Lt. Tim Bundy.
The theft rendered the streetlights inoperable, Bundy said.
The wire was stolen from the control box on the sidewalk, which houses the controls for the lights. The suspect is currently only described as a man in a dark-colored vehicle.
Detectives from Pasadena are investigating the case. They are canvassing a three-block area to see if any video surveillance may have captured the suspect. No one made contact with the suspect, and it was only noted that his slow driving was unusual.
The value of the stolen copper wire is currently unknown. City Public Works personnel had not yet arrived at the scene at the time of reporting. The investigation is ongoing.
