The oath will be administered by former Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey. Barger will also share her vision for her next term. Local leaders, community members, and supporters will gather to celebrate her continued service to the County.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who represents Pasadena, will take the oath of office for her third and final term on Saturday, November 2 at Caltech’s Athenaeum, where she will share her vision for her final term representing a vast district that includes this City of Roses and surrounding communities.
Former Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey will administer the oath during the morning ceremony, where local leaders, community members, and supporters will gather.
Barger, the lone Republican on the powerful Board of Supervisors, won reelection with 56.82% of the vote on March 5, avoiding a runoff by exceeding the required 50% plus one threshold.
The Fifth District supervisor’s territory spans 2,785.21 square miles and serves nearly 2 million residents across portions of 20 cities, 63 unincorporated communities and 15 Los Angeles neighborhoods.
During her previous terms, Barger focused on public safety, homelessness and quality of life issues. She led the county through the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic as Board chair in 2020.
Her nonpartisan leadership approach emphasizes collaboration and transparent governance. In the past 12 months, she has prioritized reforms to direct more county funding to cities and communities for mental health and substance abuse services, while expanding healthcare access in underserved areas.
Barger has recently been vocal on county governance, criticizing plans to expand the Board of Supervisors in August 2023. She argued for creating an ethics commission immediately rather than waiting for a ballot measure.
First elected in 2016, Barger has maintained her commitment to public safety investments while advocating for expanded mental health and community resources as critical components of community safety.
