Emergency crews are working tirelessly to contain the Eaton Fire in Pasadena, forcing officials to postpone damage assessments while evacuation orders remain firmly in place across affected neighborhoods.
The City of Pasadena announced Thursday that teams cannot yet evaluate the extent of the destruction as firefighters continue battling to contain the expanding blaze to limit further loss of life and property.
“We understand how difficult and uncertain this time is for all residents impacted by the ongoing Eaton fire,” the City of Pasadena stated in an official announcement. “Devastating losses suffered by so many in our community are unfathomable, and there is a need for accurate information as to precisely what those losses are.”
In a coordinated response effort, the City of Pasadena is partnering with Los Angeles County to establish a Local Assistance Center, also designated as a Resource Center.
Once operational, the facility will serve as a centralized location where affected residents can replace critical documents, file claims, and receive comprehensive information about fire impacts.
Officials will announce the center’s location and opening date once determined.
For residents grappling with potential losses, the City has outlined three immediate steps:
Make detailed notes of damaged items and property, and gather photos/videos of any visible damage or losses;
Keep track of all your expenses and document everything;
Contact your insurance company to start the claim process.
Many neighborhoods remain under an evacuation orders because conditions continue to pose significant danger and prevent residents from returning to their homes, a City official said.
Residents seeking updates can access information through multiple channels: the city’s official website at CityOfPasadena.net; social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook; or by telephone at the City Service Center, (626) 744-7311, available Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
