East West Bancorp, Inc., the parent company of East West Bank headquartered in Pasadena, reported record third-quarter net income of $368 million, or $2.65 per diluted share, according to a company press release issued Tuesday. The results mark the highest quarterly earnings in the bank’s history, driven by deposit-led growth and increased fee income across wealth management, lending, and deposit services.
Return on average common equity rose to 17.4 percent, while return on average tangible common equity reached 18.5 percent. Total revenue climbed 11 percent quarter-over-quarter to $778 million, and total assets grew to $79.7 billion. Book value per share increased 5 percent to $62.39, with tangible book value per share also up 5 percent to $58.97. The company also reported pre-tax, pre-provision income of $503 million, a 12 percent increase from the prior quarter. These figures are based on East West’s third-quarter earnings release and financial tables.
“I am proud to report East West’s record-breaking financial results for the third quarter,” said Dominic Ng, chairman and chief executive officer, in the company’s press release. “We earned record levels of revenue, net income, and earnings per share. Record net interest income was fueled by deposit-led growth, while higher fee income was driven by notable strength in wealth management, lending, and deposit account fees.”
“Asset quality remained resilient. Nevertheless, given the uncertainty in the outlook for 2026, we further bolstered our allowance for loan losses,” Ng continued. “Our significant capital levels, ample liquidity, bolstered reserves, and strong earnings profile enable East West to operate from a position of strength, with the ability to capitalize on opportunities across market environments.”
The company’s tangible common equity ratio rose to 10.24 percent, up 29 basis points from the previous quarter. These non-GAAP financial measures—including return on average tangible common equity, tangible book value per share, and tangible common equity ratio—are reconciled in Tables 15 and 16 of East West’s detailed earnings release, available at www.eastwestbank.com/investors
