A man in his 40s died after a shooting Tuesday evening in Pasadena, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Monica Cuellar.
Cuellar said officers were dispatched at 7:03 p.m. to the 300 block of Ashtabula Street after a SoundThinking automatic gunfire detection alert indicated a possible shooting. When officers arrived, they found evidence confirming a shooting had occurred, she said.
Shortly afterward, dispatchers notified officers that a gunshot victim had been transported to a local hospital, Cuellar said. Officers later learned the man had died from his injuries.
According to Cuellar, the victim was a Hispanic man in his 40s. His name has not been released pending notification of his family.
Detectives from the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit responded and are leading the investigation, Cuellar said.
No other injuries were reported, and dispatchers advised officers about the victim approximately 10 minutes after the initial SoundThinking alert, according to Cuellar. She said information about how the victim was transported, the number of shots detected, or the type of evidence recovered was not available.
Pasadena police continue to investigate the homicide.
