Fido will cost you more, if a City Committee and the Pasadena City Council approve a recommendation from Pasadena’s Department of Public Works today.
Adjustments to the Schedule of Taxes, Fees and Charges and the General Fee Schedule are usually completed in June for the following fiscal year. However, the Pasadena Humane Society, which serves as the City’s poundmaster and administers Pasadena’s dog licensing program, has said it requires additional time to update and publish dog license and related fees and adequately inform animal owners of the new fees and so the increase will be discussed today.
According to provisions of the Pasadena Municipal Code, all taxes, fees and charges, and any fee established by City Council will be adjusted on July 1 of each year to reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Los Angeles-Riverside-Orange County metropolitan area for the preceding 12-month period ending March 1.
Between March 1, 2015 and March 1, 2016, the change in CPI for all urban consumers in the Los Angeles-Riverside-Orange. County metropolitan area was 2.4103 percent.

Since 2013, the City has collaborated with the Pasadena Humane Society for licensing animals so that owners can have them licensed at the PHS office. Dog owners can bring their dog’s license application and rabies certificate directly to the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA at 361 South Raymond Avenue.
The agency is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
A dog license is required by the State of California to be renewed annually along with proof the dog is current with its rabies vaccination. Rabies vaccines and certificates can be valid for one to three years. Vaccination can be obtained from the PHS or most local veterinarians.
For more information, contact PHS at (626) 792-7151, ext. 115, or visit www.pasadenahumane.org.
The City Council meets today in public session at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Pasadena City Hall, 100 North Garfield Avenue in downtown Pasadena.
