The Pasadena Humane Society reported that urgent eye surgery was successfully completed on an injured kitten funded by a $3,500 Mightycat Medical Grant from the Orphan Kitten Club.
“Thank you to Orphan Kitten Club for awarding us with a generous $3,500 grant to help sweet Lala get the eye surgery that she desperately needed. Our team was able to skillfully patch up Lala’s missing eye. The surgery was a success, and she has recovered well, receiving lots of love from our staff while in our ICU!” Pasadena Humane announced.
It is expected Lala should be free from pain and discomfort in the eye socket as a result of the procedure.
The funding for the treatment was provided through Orphan Kitten Club’s Mightycat Medical Grant program, which ensures financial constraints don’t prevent lifesaving care for vulnerable young cats.
The organization, founded by kitten welfare advocate Hannah Shaw, known as “Kitten Lady,” has made a significant impact in animal welfare across the country, according to Orphan Kitten Club’s program information.
With the shelter taking in over 1,800 kittens under 8 weeks old in 2022, such targeted grants help ensure critical care remains available for the most vulnerable cases.
