In response to Pasadena Fire Captain William Basulto’s heroism, the Rams are providing for him, his family and his two neighbors to attend Sunday’s Super Bowl game in Inglewood.
“My father is a huge Rams fan so I remember watching them with my dad from the late 70s,” Basulto told Pasadena Now. “I was a little sad that they left Los Angeles and went to St. Louis. So I put them in a bit on the backburner. About five years ago I ramped it back up. Three years ago I became a season tix holder at the Coliseum, [I am] now a season tix holder at SoFi.”
The Pasadena firefighter was heading to the game with his dad and son to the Rams-49ers playoff game in SoFi Stadium last month, but while dressed in their good luck Rams attire and loading up their vehicle for tailgating his dad noticed heavy smoke coming from a home a few doors down on the 3800 block of Dozier Street in East LA.
Basulto ran to the house where he was told a woman in her 50’s was trapped on an upper floor that was filling up with smoke.
Basulto gave directions to neighbors to get a ladder, call 911 and told them where to direct their garden hoses to fight the fire.
Basulto was able to rescue the women and her dog as fire personnel were arriving on-scene.
He then gave the firefighters an update on the incident/rescue and helped them set-up their hoses to extinguish the fire.
Los Angeles County Fire personnel on-scene praised him for saving the victim’s life in a home that had significant pack-rat conditions.
William returned home to clean-up, especially his Rams shoes that took a hit, and then headed to the game minus being a bit late to tailgate.
The Rams practiced for the Super Bowl Game in the historic Rose Bowl on Thursday.
