According to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau, the driver of a stolen Nissan led police on a brief but intense high-speed chase on Monday morning, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour before officers called off their pursuit for safety reasons .
The incident began around 9:57 a.m. when the Los Angeles Police Department asked Pasadena police for help tracking down a 2011 Nissan Frontier that had been stolen from a Los Angeles man from the Hollywood area about an hour earlier, said Campeau.
The Nissan was reportedly equipped with an air tag device, helping officers locate it near Lake Avenue and Maple Street.
When officers tried to pull the Nissan over on the 210 Freeway on-ramp, the driver ran a red light and sped away, Campeau said.
The chase continued eastbound on the freeway for about 1.9 miles but was quickly canceled due to the dangerous speeds.
No injuries were reported, and the suspect, described only as a man, remains at large, said Campeau.
