U.S. News & World Report has named Huntington Health, an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai, among the top hospitals in California and Los Angeles for the upcoming year.
The hospital achieved a No. 10 ranking in California and a No. 5 ranking in Los Angeles, establishing itself as the highest-ranked hospital in the San Gabriel Valley.
“For more than three decades, U.S. News has been an invaluable guide for patients,” said Ben Harder, managing editor and chief of health analysis at U.S. News.
“With a ‘Best Hospital’ recognition, Americans, in consultation with their medical providers, can confidently choose a regional hospital known for providing superior care for their specific illness or condition.”
The prestigious designation comes after a rigorous evaluation of more than 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions.
Only 13 percent of evaluated hospitals received the Best Hospitals designation.
U.S. News analyzed hospital performance using objective measures including risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and level of nursing care.
Huntington Health distinguished itself by earning ‘high performing’ designations in eight adult specialties: cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and lung surgery, and urology.
The hospital also received ‘high performing’ ratings in 17 specific procedures and conditions, including critical areas such as heart attack, stroke, diabetes, cancer surgeries, and joint replacements.
These ratings were based on an analysis of over 800 million patient care records.
