The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority will offer free rides across its entire transit network on Election Day, November 5, to encourage eligible County residents to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
The free service will run from midnight to 11:59 p.m., covering all Metro buses, trains, Metro Bike Share and Metro Micro services throughout Los Angeles County. Voters can drop off mail-in ballots at nine Metro stations.
Metro Bike Share users can access free 30-minute rides using the promo code 110524 at any kiosk, online or through the Metro Bike Share app. The code can be redeemed multiple times throughout the day. A credit or debit card is required. Bike rides are just an additional $1.75 for each half hour after the first 30 minutes, with electric bike fees waived.
The agency’s on-demand rideshare service, Metro Micro, will provide free rides in eight zones across the County. Passengers can book through the app, online, or by calling 323-GO-METRO (323-466-3876) and pressing option 5, using the code Vote24.
Metro Bike Share has created an interactive map at bikeshare.metro.net/go-vote/ to help users locate in-person voting locations and ballot drop boxes. The agency encourages riders to share their journey on social media using #pedaltothepolls and tagging @bikemetro for a chance to be featured on Metro feeds.
