A local hospital called police Wednesday night after a 39-year-old Pasadena man was dropped off for emergency treatment of lacerations to the back of his head he sustained during a botched robbery attempt in Old Pasadena.

The injuries were not life-threatening.

Arriving police interviewed the victim, who said two men in their 20’s approached him with the intention of robbing him as he waited at a bus stop near Memorial Park, at 85 East Holly Street, according to Lt. Anthony Burgess.

The victim fled on foot but the two robbers caught him, “beat him down” and demanded money, Burgess said.

After a short attack, the men left, empty-handed. The victim proceeded to get on a bus and traveled to east Pasadena, where he met his mother.

Burgess said the victim’s mother told the man to go to a hospital for treatment of his wound.

Burgess said the description of the robbers is vague and the men remain outstanding.
