Marian Wright Edelman will be in the All Saints pulpit on Sunday, December 8, at the 11:15 a.m. service to preach on the intersection between prison, poverty, children and gun violence. Founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF), Mrs. Edelman has been an advocate for disadvantaged Americans for her entire professional life.
The first black woman admitted to the Mississippi Bar, Marian Wright Edelman directed the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund office in Jackson, Mississippi, and moved to Washington D.C. in l968 as counsel for the Poor People’s Campaign.
