The Association of Black Employees (T.A.B.E.) at Pasadena City College recently awarded four scholarships to continuing & transfer students. In 2023, the vital employee advocacy organization celebrated its 45th year.

This year’s T.A.B.E. scholarships were presented at the PCC Black Grad & Transfer Celebration, an energetic commemorative evening with students strutting in via a vibrant New Orleans second line.

Scholarship Chairwoman Victoria Williams presented the $1,000 T.A.B.E. scholarships to Johnathan Macali, LeRaun Peron, and Makenna Walker.

Dave Smith presented the Deborah Jean Grant Memorial Scholarship to Sela Murphy.

The scholarship recipients inspired the committee with their creative video submissions of how they exemplify Black Excellence.

The scholars all have varied educational interests & career pursuits, from sports journalism to materials scientist to pilot training.

The Association of Black Employees (T.A.B.E.) at Pasadena City College supports, advocates, mentors and provides a system of growth and development for Black employees and students all while strengthening community partnerships.
