A 36-year-old Pasadena man was arrested Tuesday morning after shooting an acquaintance multiple times with a BB gun, leaving the victim with puncture wounds and lacerations, Pasadena Police Lieutenant Anthony Russo said.
Russo said that officers responded at 10:31 a.m. to the 30 block of North Lake Avenue, where they found a 36-year-old man suffering injuries to his right arm, abdomen and back. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Pasadena Fire Department paramedics and was in stable condition, Russo said.
The suspect, identified as Julian Ortiz, 36, was arrested at the scene after officers canvassed the area and recovered the BB gun. The victim’s girlfriend, who witnessed the incident, positively identified Ortiz as the shooter, according to Russo.
Russo said the victim told officers Ortiz shot him four times and reportedly warned that “next time it won’t be a fake gun.” The victim also reported a history of prior altercations with Ortiz. No drugs or alcohol were involved, Russo added.
Ortiz was booked into Pasadena jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, Russo said.
