Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo announced on Wednesday that he has received the endorsement of LA County Assessor Jeff Prang in his re-election campaign.

“Victor Gordo has a deep understanding of Pasadena, forged through his many years living and working in the community,” said Prang. “This unique experience informed his leadership throughout his first term as Mayor, during which he guided the city through times of both difficulty and prosperity. I proudly endorse Victor’s re-election campaign for Mayor, because I know that he will continue his fight to build a stronger, more resilient Pasadena.”

Gordo was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States with his parents as a young child. He grew up in Pasadena and attended Pasadena public schools. After high school, he worked as a newspaper delivery boy and a restaurant worker to help support his family. He went on to attend Pasadena City College and Azusa Pacific University, and he eventually graduated from law school.

Gordo has served on the Pasadena City Council for almost 19 years. He was elected Mayor in 2020. During his time as Mayor, he has focused on issues such as affordable housing, public safety, and economic development.

“In a short amount of time, we have accomplished so much together to improve Pasadena,” said Gordo. “From navigating the COVID-19 crisis and recovery to addressing the need for more affordable housing, I have worked in collaboration with city officials, community leaders, working families and local businesses to put Pasadena on the pathway towards a brighter future.”

Prang is the first Democrat to be elected LA County Assessor in over 50 years. He is a strong advocate for taxpayers and has worked to make the assessment process more fair and transparent.

“I am grateful for Jeff Prang’s endorsement,” said Gordo. “Jeff is a respected leader who has fought for taxpayers and working families throughout his career. I am proud to have his support in my re-election campaign.”
