A Monrovia man wanted for felony evading was arrested Friday afternoon following a foot pursuit and deployment of a Pasadena police canine, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Andrea Perez.
Felony evading involves fleeing from pursuing police in a vehicle while driving with willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.
Hector Treto, 43, of Monrovia, was taken into custody around 1:15 p.m. in the 2500 block of South Myrtle Avenue in Monrovia, Perez said. Pasadena officers had been conducting surveillance on Treto since 6:30 a.m. that day.
When officers attempted to apprehend Treto, he allegedly fled on foot. Officers released a police dog to help them capture Treto and make the arrest, Perez said.
During the apprehension, Treto sustained a minor injury from the dog.
According to Perez following his arrest, Treto was transported to the Pasadena jail, where he was booked.
No officers were injured during the incident.
