PP Advocates is the political advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley (PPPSGV). The event was held in Highland Park, the city of the newest Planned Parenthood health center.
Portantino received the award “in recognition of his commitment to protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care for all.”
“At a time when reproductive freedom is under attack in far too many states I am extremely proud and humbled to be recognized as an ally and friend of Planned Parenthood. An increasing number of people rely on Planned Parenthood for essential health care services and having such a well-run non-profit in my district is necessary and important. Standing in solidarity with PPPSGV at this moment in time is more critical than ever,” Portantino said.
Founded in 1933, PPPSGV is among the most established Planned Parenthood affiliates.
It sees over 60,000 patient visits per year and delivers over 15,000 opportunities for sex and relationship education in local schools and colleges.
“We were thrilled to recognize Senator Portantino for his two decades of ardent support for Planned Parenthood. As our legislator and friend, we are lucky to have him in Sacramento dedicated to expanding access to sexual and reproductive health care. He’s a strong advocate for the essential services we provide in our communities, the threats we face for providing abortion services, and he consistently demonstrates unwavering support for our mission,” added Sheri Bonner, president of PP Advocates.
