Pasadena police reported no murders and seized 26 illegal firearms in January, according to a new-format monthly crime brief released Wednesday.
The brief also identified the city’s busiest intersections for collisions, and alerted residents to crime trends.
The report was designed to provide a snapshot of police activity and community safety issues in Pasadena, said Cpl. Cristian Allen of the department’s Audits & Inspections Unit.
Allen said the department received an average of 260 calls for service every day in January — that’s 8,073 overall, of which 5,698 were 9-1-1 calls.
The report said the highest traffic collision rates in Pasadena during January were at the intersections of Colorado Boulevard and Los Robles Avenue (six collisions reported); Lake Avenue and Maple Street (five collisions reported); and North Fair Oaks Avenue and Union Street (four collisions reported).
The report also detailed significant robbery, firearms-related and assault incidents that occurred in January.
Among the crime trends, the report warned of increased cases of wallet thefts from the purses of shoppers and restaurant diners. Catalytic converter thefts continue to be on the rise in the region. The report also advised hikers to be careful of vehicle burglaries at trailhead parking lots.
