Antonio Olivera is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on July 16 in connection with a stabbing at a Metro rail station in Pasadena, court records show.
The hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. in Department H of the Pasadena Courthouse, located at 300 E. Walnut St. Olivera, 37, faces two felony charges: assault with a deadly weapon and assault by force likely to produce great bodily injury.
According to court documents, the attack occurred around 7:45 a.m. on April 17 on a pedestrian bridge leading to the Sierra Madre Villa station. Olivera was arrested shortly after the incident, reportedly wearing a security guard uniform despite not being employed by Metro.
Local news outlets first reported his arrest on April 18, with formal charges filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney on April 22. Olivera made his first court appearance on April 30, when the preliminary hearing date was set.
The preliminary hearing will determine probable cause for a potential trial. During the proceeding, a judge will review evidence presented by prosecutors to decide if the case should proceed to trial.
