Here are the remaining races that will be decided on Tuesday night:
School Board:
In District 1, Kim Kenne and Billy Malone are battling it out.
In District 3, voters will choose between Michelle Richardson Bailey and Pat Amsbry.
In District 5, Patrice Marshall McKenzie faces Xilian Stammer for the seat currently held by Elizabeth Pomeroy.
The District 7 seat is currently occupied by Scott Phelps, who has decided not to run for reelection. Juan Pablo Albán and Yarma Velázquez are vying to capture the seat.
Voters will also decide the fate of a rent control measure and a library tax,
Measure L would extend an existing tax for Pasadena property owners for another 15 years. The revenue from the tax provides approximately 20% of the revenue to support Pasadena’s library system.
The Measure L property tax originally passed in 1993, and was overwhelmingly renewed in 1997 and again in 2007. The tax costs residential property owners approximately 10 cents/day and goes directly to support library services including salaries, resources, books, and materials, proponents said.
The measure is critical to the continued operation of the local library.
The Measure H ballot provision would amend the city’s Charter to cap annual rent increases at 2 to 3%.
Under the measure, landlords would only be allowed to evict tenants for just causes, like failure to pay rent.
According to supporters, the charter amendment would stabilize rents by limiting increases to 75% of the annual increase in the Consumer Price Index and limiting increases to once a year. A housing board would also be established to implement the regulations.
