A man was rescued by swiftwater rescue specialists Saturday morning after he fell into a fast-flowing creek in the Arroyo.
The man, described by authorities as a transient, got caught in rapidly flowing water in a wash and couldn’t get out.
He was spotted by a passerby who called 911 around 9:40 a.m.
Rescue personnel from the Pasadena Fire Department Search & Rescue team hiked to the scene in Hahamongna Watershed Park near Jet Propulsion Laboratory at 4800 Oak Grove Drive.
They decided to hoist out the victim with the help of a Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter.
The man was not injured but was checked for hypothermia. He was flown to a nearby area where fire and medical personnel were waiting.
