In its ongoing effort to educate property owners and tenants about local housing regulations, the Pasadena Rent Stabilization Department will host a specialized workshop focusing on the formal process for landlords seeking to increase rents on controlled units. The session, scheduled for March 11, represents the latest installment in the department’s Monthly Workshop Series on rent stabilization topics.

The workshop will provide comprehensive guidance on “Hearings & Petitions for Upward Adjustment of Rent,” offering landlords critical information about filing proper petitions while simultaneously helping tenants understand their rights during these proceedings.

Participants can attend in person at the Los Robles Building, located at 199 South Los Robles Avenue, Conference Room 1 FL, or join virtually via Zoom at Bit.ly/MonthlyRSDWorkshops starting at 6:00 p.m.

Department officials have structured the workshop to cover three essential components of the rent adjustment process.

The first segment will explain what both parties should expect after a petition is filed, including documentation requirements and preparation guidelines for hearings.

The session will then outline landlord rights and responsibilities, detailing the necessary steps property owners must follow to ensure their petitions comply with Pasadena’s rent control policies. The final portion will address tenant perspectives, explaining how renters can participate effectively in the petition process.

According to the department’s announcement, attendees will have opportunities to ask questions and receive direct guidance from staff members. The workshop aims to ensure landlords meet all requirements before submitting petitions while helping tenants understand their procedural rights.

The Rent Stabilization Department encourages interested parties to visit their website or contact them directly at: RentStabilization@CityofPasadena.net
